2006 Corvette Coupe “Daytona Sunset Orange Metallic on Black”
This is much more than a testimonial. It is an acknowledgment of the professionalism and customer service I experienced when searching for and buying my first Corvette through Joe Harvey and Speedway Chevrolet.
I am 47 years old. I have loved the Corvette for as long as I can remember. As a child, instead of playing slug bug, I would play slug Corvette. I studied the car and new so much about all the models from 1953 and later. I knew all about the engines, racing victories, different concept cars including the Mako Shark II, the AeroVette and others, Zora Arkus-Duntov, etc. I knew from a very early age that I wanted to own a Corvette.
I have been actively searching for a Corvette for the past two years. My initial desire was to purchase a 1981 or 1982 C3 Corvette. Unfortunately, almost every car I drove had issues with seat controls, t-tops, gauges, transmission or some other component that I was not interested in fixing. I wanted a Corvette that I could get in and drive and enjoy for many months before having expenses aside from oil changes. I searched through dozens of cars all over Washington. I drove dozens of C3, C4 and C5 models, and always found that the cars had issues that I just did not want to deal with. Eventually, I decided that I would only purchase a C6 Corvette to reduce the number of cars I was looking at and to hopefully significantly reduce the number of cars with “issues”.
One day, while browsing Craigslist I came across an ad for JoeKnowsCorvettes. I called and left a message. Joe called back quickly and took down the details of the kind of car I was looking for. We discussed Corvettes in general, and I explained my disappointment in the cars I was seeing. I could tell right away that this was a guy that loved Corvettes and was going to be a great resource for me in my search for “my” car.
Joe immediately started sending me cars to look at. They were cars from all across the US. Every single one of the cars he sent me was a car I could enjoy, but for one reason or another they were not cars I wanted to buy. We continued to work through my likes and dislikes. Joe never wavered in his support for me, never got irritated with me, and was always eager to continue helping me.
One day, I was looking at a Daytona Sunset Orange Corvette that had a tan colored interior. I loved the way that car looked, inside and out. I emailed Joe and told him to add that color combination to my list. Within an hour, Joe sent me an email for one that had an ebony interior. I was a bit hesitant at fist because I was worried about the black interior getting extremely hot in the summer. After talking to several people that have black interiors in their cars, I decided that black would in fact be OK.
Unfortunately, when we contacted the dealer that held the vehicle, we found out that the vehicle was being purchased. Three days later, Joe called me to inform me that the person was not able to secure financing on the vehicle. Within 24 hours, Joe was helping me buy the car. As we waited for clear title, Joe brought me in to create the purchase order. Next step was getting the vehicle paid for. Speedway Chevrolet paid for the vehicle up front. The next step was securing transport. It was several days before anyone was willing to bring the vehicle to Washington, but again, all expenses were paid in advance by Speedway Chevrolet.
Two days before my Corvette arrived, Joe’s wife had their second child. Still, Joe took the time to call me when my Corvette arrived and arranged to be at the dealership the following morning at 11:00 so that I could insect and test drive the vehicle. Within the first mile, I knew I was going to be buying the car. The car was an absolute stunning vehicle, inside and out. The car drove like a dream. There were no clunks, no rattles, no noises at all. The only issue the car had was the oil pressure sensor was not functioning correctly, a common problem on this car. I saw in the early photos of the car that this was an issue, so it was not a surprise. Speedway Chevrolet fixed the sensor and now I am driving a car I have wanted for a very long time.
The car far exceeds my every expectation and I have never been more happy with anything I have purchased. If you are in the market for a Corvette, I do not think you will find anyone that wants you to have “the one” you want more than Joe Harvey at Speedway Chevrolet.
